Townsville City Autosports Club held its second hill climb of the year with some seriously quick cars competing this round, including the above pictured former record holding Evo VI.
Even though there had been a grass fire in the area earlier in the week, the grasses around the roadway were thick and untouched, not leaving much space for photographers to work with. The cars weren’t troubled by anything of the sort though, meaning some cars including this highly modified Swift. Sporting a cage, buckets, harness and semi stripped interior, it appears more comely in this environment than shopping centre.
As usual, the show was stolen by the Kansai HKS Evo VIII, clocking an impressive 55.83 seconds for the point to point course.
There were two clubman out on display during the day, showing how impressive they really can be.
One of three Evo’s brought out on the day by the same family! They also pilot a VI and VII, ensuring that Mitsubishi was well represented and Evolutions were the weapon of choice on the day, with five of the eighteen entrants running in some of Japan’s finest!
There was definitely no shortage of Carbon Fibre on display with the clubman (above) and the Evo VI (below) displaying it proudly.
Pictures can’t do this PS13 justice. The colour of the vehicle is as spectacular as it is blinding, maintaining the beautiful coat for several years.
Hopefully, next round the rural fire brigade will have burnt off the roadway surrounds, leaving a better line of sight for on track action.
